Vinen er typisk 10 år undervejs fra høst til frigivelse, men for denne 2008’er gik der næsten 12 år før Richard Geoffroy og Vincent Chaperon, der nu har taget over som Chef de Cave, syntes vinen var klar til at møde verden. Eller som Vincent har formuleret det: “When Dom Pérignon chooses to be rosé, it is a radical declaration of freedom. Freedom to explore. Freedom to cast aside conventions and push the boundaries of creation. The bouquet instantly opens with raspberries, rapidly joined by notes of violet, so typical of our Hautvillers terroirs. On the palate, the acidic foundation – the signature of the vintage – articulates the structure of the Ay pinot, vibrating the heart of the wine. This vibration embraces the thrill of the unknown, compelling a fresh perception of Dom Pérignon Rosé, an invitation to explore."
De mange års tålmodige modning får som regel vinen til at fremstå eventyrlig helstøbt, vinøs og vital allerede når den rammer markedet, men i 2008 er der en ekstra dimension af både uro, intensitet og raffinement, som minder os om at der, selvom vinen er overvældende, er nogle sløjfer, som endnu ikke er bundet op.

Full-bodied, charming, broad and fleshy, with pristine balance, it’s a seamless, complete and vinous Champagne of compelling purity and maturity.
James SucklingThis is a super Champagne with roses, strawberries and orange peel on the nose but then it's medium-boded with a raciness and beauty. Drink or hold.
Jeb DunnuckThe 2008 Champagne Rosé is another elegant expression, offering notes of cardamom, strawberry, and dried flowers. The palate is dry and well-structured and is balanced and long on the finish, with notes of dried orange peel, redcurrant, and fantastic salinity. It has a great application at the table and should continue to improve over the next 15-20 years.
VinousThe 2008 Dom Pérignon Rosé is magnificent. Rich and deep in the glass, the 2008 offers up an exotic mélange of aromas and flavors. Sweet red cherry, mint, orange peel and rose petal all grace this beguiling beauty. Bright acids and a little less still red Pinot (21%) than in most recent editions yields a Rosé that is delicate and light on its feet, with less of the vinous intensity that marked vintages such as 2006. There is a classic feeling of austerity in the 2018 that is mesmerizing. (Originally published in May 2021)
